Rich colour and fairy-tale gifts abound at Artek this Christmas. We invited publisher Cozy to pitch their Books & Stuff shop in our store and inspire us with national romanticism, storytelling, and a dash of magic. A sumptuous Christmas display has been created in our flagship store, where furniture and lamps are displayed along with a wondrous selection of books, textiles, decorative objects, ceramics, vintage treasures, and beautifully wrapped delicacies. This Christmas we can all curl up on a favourite armchair and enjoy a good book. Make Christmas a fairy-tale time.

Gifts to make you smile

The heart of the Books & Stuff – Artek x Cozy shop is downstairs in the Artek store, right by the entrance. The Cozy Christmas line-up includes the publisher’s bestsellers and latest publications together with other especially selected books. Among the smaller items on offer, gift shoppers will be quick to spy various animal characters – the Finnish ceramic bunny mugs will surely bring a smile to any face. The ceramic bowls and plates of Porvoo-based Church Square Ceramics are both beautiful and useful, while the ceramic art rugs from Studio Smoo are decorative works of art to hang on the wall. From the Lapuan Kankurit range we have chosen textiles that will grace your Christmas dinner table, as well as towels and a throw. Exceptional additions to the Christmas selection are vintage treasures from Cozy, including brass candlesticks and ceramics.

Just in

Artek’s walnut-stained tables, chairs and stools have been transformed this year. Walnut-stained wood is combined with colour hues found in our archives: linoleum in blue and slate grey, and an impressively bright red. Warm tones on our furniture bring a new look to familiar shapes.

New lamps launched by Artek in November will light up your festive dinners and peaceful moments of reading. The black Beehive lamp, also known as A331, was designed by Alvar Aalto in 1936, but is now returning to the range. Like most Aalto lamps, the Beehive provides a soft light that resembles natural light. And even when the pendant lamp is unlit the combination of black-painted metal and brass remains impressive.

Also new this year is a wall-mounted version of the Golden Bell lamp. In 1937 the Aaltos designed the interior of the Savoy restaurant in Helsinki, for which the A330S Golden Bell pendant lamp was originally created. A few wall-mounted versions of the Golden Bell were commissioned for specific places but now, for the first time ever, they are available for the general public. The wall-mounted lamp works well as a spotlight, to create ambience and, thanks to its turning arm, can also be directed horizontally.
