Everyday Beauty: A Space for Something New

Read the story

Our most unique ability is to imagine, the ability to dream. Artek was born from this talent. When Alvar and Aino Aalto, Maire Gullichsen and Nils-Gustav Hahl founded Artek in 1935, they nurtured a dream of a better world. They believed that different arts – design, visual arts and architecture – must interact and that this dialogue will generate new ideas. Art displays our ability to imagine at its purest. Each work of art is a gate – to your imagination. This is how art makes life more meaningful and beautiful.

Artek believes in beauty. We believe in a harmonious world of materials, patterns and purpose. The purpose of the stories on this page is to pay homage to Artek’s basic idea and to offer a meeting point for design and modern art. Here’s to many dreamlike moments!
